Carly Brown

Violin Performer and Instructor

Hi there! Happy to see you here. My name’s Carly, and I’m a violinist. I’d love to meet you and see how we can connect. Are you here for a lesson inquiry? A gig or recording booking? Maybe you want more information on a workshop for musicians in your church. All the information you need is a click (or a couple clicks) away. Enjoy!

About

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Carly began playing piano at the age of two, and violin at the age of eight. She began playing in a quartet at fourteen, and performed with Quartet San Francisco the following year. She holds a Bachelors of Music with an emphasis in Violin Performance from Belmont University. Before her years of missionary work, she spent her time serving as Concertmaster of the Belmont Symphony & Chamber Orchestras, playing concerts at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, and studio recording in Nashville. Her violin has taken her around the world for concerts and festivals in NYC, LA, Disney World, the Czech Republic, and Germany. Carly has performed in masterclasses for Josef Spacek and Jun Iwasaki, and studied with Tena White. Dabbling in commercial and CCM bands, she’s opened for Eli Young Band and Kaycee Musgraves, toured with The Vigil Project, and performed in the FOCUS Collective at the annual SEEK conference.

While pursing her masters degree at Middle Tennessee State University she held the Concertmaster position of the MTSU Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, and had her solo premiere with the Chamber Orchestra. Some of her more notable performances have been with Sheryl Crow and Amit Peled. She has been teaching privately for eleven years. When she’s not playing violin, Carly enjoys any sport that gets her outside, reading in her hammock drinking quality coffee, golfing, and lake life at her family cabin in Wisconsin.

Workshops

As a musician of faith, I use my education and formation to teach others the role of music and beauty in the Church, and how to lead worship in their own community. Participating in everything from small praise and worship bands, to large multi-day conference bands, I've had a unique insight into the necessary skills and common pitfalls of the typical modern Church musician. The workshop includes three parts:
Part One | An Introduction to Beauty
Part Two | History of Music in the Church
Part Three | Practical Training for Worship
Workshops occur on an individually contracted basis, and can be altered to fit the needs of your group or parish. Workshops can be a weekend retreat, an all day experience, or a virtual event. Submit a contact request for more information and booking!
